Mark your calendars for June 28, 28, and 30, and make plans to attend ROMP 2012!!
Punch Brothers!!
Perhaps the best news of 2012, thus far, has been that the Punch Brothers are returning to Owensboro’s bluegrass festival ROMP once again. I purchased our tickets last week, and I hope this year will be as perfect as the clear, cool June night when Punch Brothers performed under the stars last year!
No matter how many times I watch it, the end of Return of the King still hurts.
I wish I could travel back in time and make Lord of the Rings part of my childhood.
I’ve always liked stuffed animals. And I’ve realized I tend to latch on to them when I’m sad. As I get older, they seem to serve as reminders for me. I still have the teddy bear dad got for me when I was born. I can still pick out the ones I got when I was diagnosed with diabetes and in the hospital for a week. And one I bought at the hospital when my husband’s grandfather died.
Today, I bought another one at the hospital and named it after my grandmother. I’m in the process of losing a grandparent for the first time, and it’s been rather rough. I wanted something to remind me, not of her lengthy suffering, not of her battles with multiple cancers, but of how brave she’s been, how patient she’s been, and how at peace she’s been through it all. How this was one of the best Christmases my mamaw ever had, even though it was her last Christmas and in the hospital.
I hope my little Pete bear will always help me remember all that.

Yearbook » The Fellowship
Some of these are kind of half-assed…the superlatives are based off some of the ones that came out of my own high school’s yearbook. In any case, it was kind of fun to make.
Accurate. ;)
